help me plan mini uk holiday with toddler

dd has never had a holiday and I've not had a proper break for years. I'd really like to take her to the seaside for a few days but am lacking confidence about the whole thing, mainly because I have a long term illness which means I get tired very easily, and also because I'm just getting used to doing things on our own (not that XP was much help)
I guess I'd really like a relatively toddler friendly and also nice-for-me cottage / flat / chalet. I can't face camping and don't have the equipment, but a modern static caravan would be ok if it had loo / shower.
A supermarket / shop, sandy beach with a loo and close-ish carpark.
What else should I consider? I feel pretty clueless.

It would be lovely to do a single parents holiday where I might might some other adults, but I guess that isn't a priority this year.
I'm looking for last minute and cheap, N England so I don't have to drive too far. I haven't got dd a passport yet, so it has to be UK!

Go for it! You will be fine, honestly. Just pack as if you are doing lots of day trips rolled into one. Nothing much more to it really. Maybe if you want to read a book in the evenings a balcony is a good idea, so you don't have to be in a dark room all evening? Mainly just try to have fun and enjoy her and your time away from doing dishes and hoovering etc

What is your budget for accommodation? Have you considered a holiday park (Haven maybe) as they will have a swimming pool, children's entertainment & a shop on site to enable you to not need to travel about too much while you are there?

There is a nice one in the lake district (called Lakeland) and another in Northumberland (called Haggerston Castle). They tend not to be cheap if you have to go in the school holidays though.

What not look up late deals on a Haven? Or Hoseasons?

Look at break free holidays it's the caravan parks with lots of deals I use it a lot haven is fab

We've just booked to go here, looks ideal for us - pool, play areas etc to keep DS busy, but near beach and town if we want to go out. Fairly cheap and good reviews on trip advisor but as we've not been yet I can't advise personally on what it's like!

Pinelodge holidays in Derbyshire. Nice log cabins, on site pool, on site soft play and playground. Low key but good quality and not trashy.

Thanks so much for boosting my confidence and providing ideas. I think my heart is set on seaside, with memories of my childhood uk beach holidays, I'm going to see what I can find.

There's a place called The Bay in Filey that looks quite nice and affordable.

The Bay looks perfect actually - all new and manageable and close to beach - I actually think a holiday just me and dd hanging out would be totally lovely I will see if I can get the money and nerve together (and will pack wine and posh ready meals)

Will you update on your findings for the Filey one if you go Op? I was thinking about it myself!

I'd consider youth hostels if I were you...no, really......modern youth hostels usually offer separate rooms that you and DD could share, there will be other people around for company, a lounge with TV and games, a kitchen so you can self cater but often the option of meals provided as well. Lots of lone parents do this, so you might come across others in similar situation.
There is a great youth hostel in Whitby and one just down the coast at Boggle Hole next to Robin Hood's bay.

butlins or haven are great for short breaks with loads for the kids to do and normally near nice beaches or just book a little banb somewhere. I have just got back from a weekend in Scarborough with my little one and we stayed in the Ashburton hotel it was lovely and only a 5 minute walk away from the front.

Jo how do you find it in B&Bs with a small child? I always assumed they wouldn't be very welcome.
I've decided to shelve the Bay Filey idea as it sounds like they have a lot of building work going on - going to look at a short break there in cheaper off-season in a while, although I bet dd would love the diggers.
