Derbyshire/Sheffield Single Mums

I'm setting up a support group for single mums in my area. I like in the middle of Derbyshire, and plan to arrange meetings in Derby, Sheffield, Buxton etc

If you're local, it would be nice if you could join us!

I've seen on Facebook that there's a group for single mums which are mainly in Bristol, and it seems really nice to have a local support network so that you can ask the awkward questions that married friends just never seem to understand.

Hi there wow music to my ears I am a very young 50 year old may I join in? My son is 9. I have been single parenting him with no family support since he was 5 months old!! I look about 40 ish.

How old are the others so far sezam?? I live in Derbyshire but do drive although petrol is naturally an issue lol sigh!!!

Most interested however!!

Derby would be a piece of cake to get to as I live in between Derby and Nottingham in a diddy little town. I am available for socialising and chat weekends largely not in the week owing to work commitments.

I'm always meeting single mums from all walks of life but we all have similar difficulties and we're all trapped inside the house from 7/8 pm onwards.

First meeting is in Derby at the end of the month. I'll PM you more information, but yes, you're certainly more than welcome to join in, I'm glad to have you!

You just click the link and find somewhere that says "request to join" :-)

I've also got a friend who I'd like you to meet - she can make the Derby meet on 27th - so if you can come too, that would be great!

Hi, just saw this and I would be interested. In north Derbyshire tho, so although derby is a bit far Sheffield and Buxton are nearby.

Just to say that we had a lovely 2nd meet today in Chesterfield.

If anyone would like to join us, we meet alternate Sundays at different parks and play centres (depending on the weather) in the area.

Upcoming meets are:

15 June - Belper - gardens behind Chucklebutties or at Chucklebutties 11 am
29 June - Chatsworth - meeting at 11 am

Please do come along if you're able to - no pressure, no judgement, jut a chance to meet other single mums and have some time for the children to play and make new friends too.

Am 37, single Mum to a 14 month old. Husband buggered off with another woman, and 2 weeks later I found out I was pregnant. So I've been a single Mum from the start.

Would love to meet other single Mums in the area.

I live in South Derbyshire.

I think we should be able to make Sunday 29th June for the Chatsworth House day it sounds great. I have been wanting to go along for some time now....! My boy is 9 and he will be happy to meet other children I am quite sure.

Tricky - I've spent the last 6 being cross and envious - so decided that it would be a good excuse to get us together and do something ourselves!

We're meeting at Markeaton Park if it's fine, Hickory Dickory's if raining.

Unless you have an idea for somewhere non-softplay in case of rain? I find them so difficult to come across.

Hi Tricky, it's a very large soft play centre in Derby. I find it difficult to come up with indoor alternatives to parks in case of rain, but that's the best one in the area as I'm coming from the other side of the county.
