List in here the things you have done for the first time as a lone parent. Things you never got a chance to do or even knew you could do, things that you wouldn't have attempted before.

DIY classes are worth their weight in GOLD and is something I always recommend to any lone parent.

Since completing my class I've:

Fitted carpets
Plastered
Painted
Replaced shower
Replaced toilet
Replaced kitchen - yep, the ENTIRE thing
Tiled
plumbed in various appliances
Fixed and repaired various appliances
Hung up heavy mirrors
made shelving unit in pantry for my kilner jars
Made shelving units for the kids
replaced skirting boards
Laid wood flooring

I've also made

oak furniture - coffee table, stools, bedside tables, tv units and 3 sideboards and 3 beds
Shoe cupboards
Replaced, re fitted and remade the meter cupboard
replaced doors

I can not recommend them enough. The only thing I will advise is - you get what you pay for with tools so get the best you can afford. They are an investment and will save you a fortune in the long run.

It's not that impressive really.

Once you have an idea of what it is you are doing and have the tools in to do the job - the rest is just a matter of following instructions on the pack or youtube. It makes yourealise how much you have been ripped of by in the past too.
