here we go. Valentines day again.

Sad.

And its not that I hate people having someone to share it with, imnm genuinely happy for them (and Im of the thought that Val day is every day) but here we go with the million adverts of loved ones and the chocs and the flowers etc etc etc........and yet another reminder Im alone (yes got DC but YKWIM).

any more shoulders out there to cry alongside?

getting right on my nerves. its in your face everywhere: TV, pubs, restaurants, every shop you go into, internet. will be glad when its done with.

got to go to town tomoz for a birthday gift and card and I bet the 1st thing thatll hit me in card shop will be valentine cards and heart balloons and teddy bears etc etc etc...........

Oh hooray for this thread, I thought it was just me that was getting pissed off! Trying to ignore all the hearts and tacky rubbish but it's completely everywhere.

I need a funny yet biting answer for if anyone asks me whether I'm getting a card. Any ideas?

please, no answers there unless you make one for your DC and vice-versa!

if ive been asked in the past ';did you get any cards' ive shrugged and laughed it off saying I don't believe in the commercialism etc etc'. lying of course as im gutted inside!

no you can't escape it even in e mails for clothes shops or anything they've had to try and put a huge valentine/heart twist on it. its my first on my own too god I think since I was at school! only just realised that. even more depressing.

I never ever get a card or a present, or even a cup of tea in bed. It's just another normal day in my house (and I do have a partner, honest!) So really, you're not missing out on anything here!!

the only thing worse than Valentine's alone was valentine's with STBExH...who "didn't need to be told when to buy his wife flowers " (because he never did) and always came up with a late, rude card and the excuse "I'm only joking"...3rd one on my own HOORAY!

XP left on Monday so I guess it'll be my first Valentine's Day on my own as well. We never really celebrated it massively but I think the adverts will piss me off! I think I'll do a nice meal for me and the kids instead.

not the same but I say Valentines apply to children too!

thing is they do valentines on the childrens channels too ffs!

I've sent my ex something. A court summons for maintenance arrears that he's refusing to pay. I'm nice like that.

It's 'hallmark day'. All people are doing is spending money in a fake attempt to re-assure someone that they like them. It's more important to like yourself and not put up with a waste of space just so you get a card that will end up in the recycling.

It is all marketing. The ads on TV are about money and not love. Valentines has gone the same way as Halloween and Easter etc. Valentines Day USED to be for the unmarried and unattached. It was a way of telling someone you loved or admired how you felt - anonymously if you wished - with a card. It was not for people who were already together. It is bloody stupid now. Men buy things because it is expected of them. They don't get the supermarket roses and bottle of champagne because they really want to, but because if they don't they will have a very pissed off wife on their hands. It is about what is expected of them and that is not romantic OR sexy is it?

Bloody hate it so lonely especially as ex is with ow and i know they will be celebrating together i want to poke him in the face..and is it also disturbing that i ripped out the 14th of my diary Blush i don't like being lonely and its my birthday the week after waaaahhhhaaaahhhhaaa.

It'll be my first valentines alone, however my ex never really gave a shit anyway. Last year all his thoughts were on OW too. For me it's just a reminder that no one loves me Hmm

Cant stand valentines day... Watching everyone around me treat each other n spend time together. Sad Such a lonely day for me dispite knowing its aload of overmarketed pointless crap x

Just remember - many of the couples who are buying the flowers and chocolates and mini breaks now, won't be together in a year or two. A bunch of flowers and a card and all that jazz does not equal lasting love.
