How is Housing Benefit affected if my daughter and I who am receiving Housing Benefit live with another family, (mother and father & 2 kids) who are both working?

Depends on what basis.

Is it there home? Do they pay rent? Are they charging you rent? Does it include bulls

oadcb · 19/01/2014 18:48

Bills.... Including a bull would be a bit worrying!

Bulls make a change from goats Grin

I've often wondered this so will be watching this thread for answers.

Bulls, hahahahah! Are bulls the new goats I wonder? Grin

It depends on some facts. Is the property rented, who pays the rent, who is liable for the rent. If you have no liability to pay the rent then you can't claim housing benefit.

Hiya,

I've done this before - it was a fantastic experience, and great to have support when you are both single parents. Both sets of kids (6 kids in all) remember it as their favorite house.

You can claim rent if you have a valid tenancy agreement, the only issue is that you can't claim council tax benefit.

Obviously, if bills are included in the 'rent' payment you make, you will not get the full rent - so make sure that's separated out in any rental agreement. If you're just paying your share of bills then that's fine.

If you're both renting, and moving to a new property, then it can freak out the letting agents. I tend to find that 6 months rent in advance can calm them down a lot.
