Has your DCs dad gained or lost interest as they get older?

DSs dad showed a complete lack of interest or care until about 6 months, now sees him once a week and pays him attention if he is being amusing at 10 months, but there is still a lack of care or interest.

I was just wondering if anyone's got insight into how things might go as he gets a bit older from how their ex's have acted?

I've shared care of our daughter with my ex since we split when she was 3 years old...however sharing didn't really happen when he had his holiday from work or during school holidays however has our daughter has got older (she is now 11) he is really keen to have her more....I was away at HT with her and he has been off work this week so he has had her all this week...(which never used to happen)....when she was a baby and we were still together he used to just go off and do his own thing regardless of us... so you may find things change as your son gets older...

I'm not much further along than you are and I've seen the ex lose interest. We used to live the next street away from him and he could still only be arsed to come once a week for 1.5/2 hours (his choice, I offered way more). We live a bit further away now and he hasn't seen dc in 3 months and texts maybe once every four weeks despite promising all sorts and threatening me with fighting for full custody.

Was the threatening for custody before or after him stopping contact?
DSs dad threatened that at the start but hasn't mentioned since
