I'm going camping with my children alone !

It's a bit silly but, massively satisfying at the same time.Ive had a hell of a time since sbexh left last autumn to celebrate the fact that he is having a new baby with his girlfriend next weekend I m taking my kids camping just to annoy him.This weekend not baby weekend.Cos he loves camping and I mean loves camping.When I told him he looked like a kicked puppy.His idea of heaven is to camp in a freezing cold field with a shabby loo house thingy and bugger off fishing all night leaving me with three children in a cold damp tent.Well sod that I've got a deluxe pitch on a naff site with entertainment and everything I've bought electric hook up and a heater and a light plus blankets I plan to not even attempt cooking on a crappy stove but buy chips from the onsite takeaway.Im going to have a great time and so are the children I m really starting to get this whole single mum thing.If anyone thinks I'm being a bitch sorry But I am,I found out about ow from the kids and found out she was pregnant from a friend and he does nt pay maintence so I work a full time job and a second job when he has the kids plus studying so I feel I've got the right just for once to enjoy myself even if it pees it down.

Where are you going? I think it's meant to warm up at the weekend. I had brilliant trips away with my girls. Best of all was that there was no diatribe putting the tent up which generally went "right we all need to work together ... Only do exactly what I tell you to do when I tell you to ". "why aren't you doing anything, you don't need telling". And I packed the campervan with no problems each way, something that with him in the equation was hugely stressful and things wouldn't fit (apparently my fault!). It was all soooo much easier without him and all the shouting

I am working up the nerve to go camping with DS and my dog; I love camping but am mainly worried about being able to get the tent up on my own -- DS is 5 so may not be a lot of help!

toysintheattic - buy a pop-up tent! They are brilliant and put themselves up. Recommend a 2-man size. I camped with my DD alone after divorce, she was 7 or 8. We had a brilliant time - joined up with some other families with kids similar age. The kids ran wild together and I played cards and drank wine into the night with the parents.

There is a special freedom about camping, especially without a controlling partner to spoil it!

Toysintheattic, I managed to get my ds to hold poles from 4 years which meant I could get my 5 man vango up and camp with him and toddler dd when I was on my own. It was a great few years despite the tricky bits and I now have hardy children!

Thanks for all the support it was a great if damp trip me and 3 kids had fab time doing cheesy kids club disco I danced like a loon on stage.Put the tent up all alone best of all no shouting at all.Car packed in record time and unpacked with no problems single parents just go for it,you won t regret it.

So glad to hear it went well. No shouting REALLY helps with tents!
