POF - Yay or Nay??

I have been a single mum for a year now and am really starting to miss having someone special in my life.

Is POF a big no? There seem to be more men on there then on match.com (I only search at the mo!)

I cant think of any other way to meet anyone. I go out maybe once a month if that. With 2 children and a job I dont have many options!!

If you want men who are just interested in talking about their sex drive go for it but for me I found it way too full in. Try Cupid or Match.com - had a few dates from those which were fun but have now decided to give them all a miss. Enjoying being single way too much.

The other thing to try is something called Spice where you book on activities which I enjoyed far more than Internet dating and there are plenty of single men and women that go.

Avoid pof, it's just guys looking for one night stands. Match is a bit better, because you have to pay of course so it sorts those who genuinely are looking for a relationship from those hoping to get lucky.
If you're sporty also look at fitness singles.

Pof has more people on it because it's free. So yes there are plenty of weirdos :) but what have you got to lose ?

Yes, I met my DP on there and he's my The One...I knew from the moment we met that I would marry him.

You have to be very selective, there are many weirdos on there and players and sleazeballs...you have to develop a good sense of humour pretty quickly...ignore the ones who message you for sex, or to show you photos of their..ahem...appendages. If a man doesn't tick most of your boxes then ignore, but it's worth giving it a go. I waited 43 years to find Mr Right, and that's where he was hiding.

I joined a few weeks ago and have found it ok. I ignore msgs that just say hi, or call me babe or similar. I have chatted to 2-3 nice sounding blokes two of which have asked me to go for drinks with them. I agreed to one bloke but it seems to have fizzled and gone quiet before we have even gone for the drink. He reminded me in looks too much of my ex anyway so would have only been a friendship thing with him I suspect.
I am not expecting any great romance from the site to be honest but it's nice to chat to some guys and get to know what I do and don't want from my next relationship. I don't really miss having a bloke that much to be honest, just want to expand my social life a little.

Other sites charge a lot, for what?

I met dp on POF been with him over 4 years now and he's the one. And like others met a few frogs. Also made some nice friends too.
A few of my friends met their long term partners on there too.
You can send your pic in a message to anyone you're interested in even if it doesn't show on your profile. That's how I met dp. I liked him, sent him a message and included my pic.

Even the ones just looking for a shag and nothing else can sound ok. You have to go with your instinct.

I used POF and I went on lots of dates. Some of them were disasters, some of them were fine but we didn't click and the last girl I dated married me!

Even when the person I met wasn't ideal date material I met lots of interesting people and had fun nights out.

I made a few good friends (single mums amongst them) that I'm still close to. Grin

I have tried a few dating sites and found the photos of the Ladies the most offputting feature. The wounded eyes and clenched mouth says it all. Those who do communicate want money or can't string a sentence together. I think I shall give up on the search for a new friend and enjoy being single with two infant loves.

Pof - full of time wasters . Paying sites are better but still have their fair share of weirdos. One guy would only communicate with me through his donkey on Match . Met husband at a party in the end.
