Just feeling cappy and alone right now!

Sorry if this sounds misberable but I just need a moan, sometimes it's so hard being alone all the time with dcs! My dd is 5 and generally well behaved but has been abit naughty recently.

I'm stuck with no car (I know many single parents never have a car and I sympathise with them) but right now I'm finding it difficult!

I think I'm just going to go out for a walk with dd now to get us out of the house for a bit.

I just feel that we are so alone and it makes me feel lonely. I don't really know how to change it. Sorry again for sounding so negative, maybe I'll feel better after out walk!

I think its normal to have down days about your situation, whatever it is. Tough time of year right now with all the happy nuclear families propoganda around. Hope you have a nice walk.

I think we have all been there on a regular basis! I know I have days when I feel very alone and Christmas is always a difficult time. A walk is a very good idea and then try to plan something nice to look forward to, even if its only a hot bubble bath.

I don't drive yet, so get what you mean about feeling stuck. Had no adult contact for 3 days as we have chicken pox here so just texting and calling people and have a very itchy clingy little DD, poor sausage :(
Best thing to do is make plans to catch up with friends when you can. Have something to look forward to each week and surround yourself with people who inspire you or make you laugh (or both!).

OP I know exactly how you feel, you most definitely are not alone. You and other posters are right; the simple things like a walk or a bubble bath really help...I walk really fast in the woods carrying DD when I feel like that to get my adrenaline pumping and burn off any negative energy/anxiety, works for me!
Do you have a particular friend/family member you can have a good rant to when you feel like it? It's not always the person you would expect that actually turns out to be the most helpful. In my case it's my old Dad

So sorry to hijack, but ATouchOfStuffing - my poor DD has had the pox over Christmas too! horrid isn't it. We're just coming out the other side. Hope your little one feels much better soon.

You are not alone! My DD and I spent 3 days over Christmas with friends, but I could not find the Christmas spirit as I have in previous years.

Being single during the festive period is the worst; reflecting on the past 11 months alone (8 years in total), and looking forward to another year being Billy-no-date.

Roll on summer!!!!!
