I love my children completely and totally and yes im probably being selfish and yes i know i chose to have my children but i would love just 1 day where i could wake up when i wanted and have a day where i could just think about me.

I know its not likely to happen but maybe 1 day a miracle will happen. Otherwise i will need to wait till they are a lot older

You aren't unreasonable at all - how old are the children ? Any chance of doing a swap with a friend so you have theirs for a day and night, then they have yours ?

exexpat · 12/08/2012 20:29

How old are they? I guess from your OP that you don't have regular family support or anyone who can give you time off. But the older they get, the easier it is to come to an arrangement with friends to take each other's children off for a day. I sometimes manage to get both mine invited at sleepovers with separate friends on the same night.

Totally normal mate. Try and arrange a swap with a friend. Mine started as a chat with another mum at the gate, then an afternoon tea, and eventually an overnight for both of them. Now I have a few friends that I can ask for a favour every so often... knowing I am on my own they tend to be rather lovely and help out more than I manage to return.

i have 3. Oldest is 7 and the twins are 2. I dont think its gonna happen just something i hope for but know will never happen. A bit like winning the lottery or ever meeting somebody interested in me

Not too long until they qualify for their free 15 hours at nursery right? That's when my support network started to change and improve.

Sluttybuttons · 12/08/2012 20:42

The have just turned 2 so i have another year. i just am finding everything so hard at the moment. Not because its difficult but because im so worn out and fed up of doing everything on my own. Some people just seem to get all the help and support they could ever need and then there is people like me that people really dont even think twice about

I only have one and feel the same as you and I have a great support network. Don't feel bad or selfish I just think it something that goes with having toddlers!

Where are your family? x

Meglet · 12/08/2012 20:53

You are not being selfish at all! I'm worn out, ratty and fed up too Sad.

I am seriously aiming for my DC's (5 and almost 4) to go to university so I know that means I can start sleeping again in 14yrs.

My mum is great with us but I never get a break at night and weekends can be pretty -shouty hard going. I just about manage to get a couple of days off work a year where I can just pack them off to school and nursery and do what I want for a few hours, it's bliss and I accomplish so much without them under my feet.

doinmummy · 12/08/2012 20:57

I used to do most things on my own (single mum for 14 years) and very very rarely got a break. I know how you feel.

Do you have family? Do they know how you feel?

Sluttybuttons · 12/08/2012 21:01

They have their own lives and when i moved to be closer to my mum i still got no help then she moved away. My youngest sister gets all the help anybody could ask for im just not worth the effort i dont think

My DD stops over night at my parents, I still wake up at 5:30 :o(

doinmummy · 12/08/2012 21:14

You sound really sad slutty. Have you asked for help from family? Maybe they think you are ok and coping

Sluttybuttons · 12/08/2012 21:18

Na no point asking for help, its not gonna happen. Just a nice thought that 1 day ill get that 1 day on my own
