Am still living in the marital home as I can't afford to leave and H refuses to.
So we have separated; sleep in separate bedrooms, he cooks for himself, etc, etc.
I am looking into claiming Income Support bu not sure how I am classed.
Any advice please?

Hi,
You can be separated but still living in the same house but you must be able to demonstrate that you are living completely separate lives with separate eating arrangements, shopping, bedrooms. It is also wise to divide the bills and live out of separate bank accounts so you both pay half of electricity etc but from your own money. both pay half of mortgage or proportion thereof.

I think the UK border agency has a good definition of how to demonstrate you are separated even if living in the marital home at the same time...but I've lost it, will have a look and link if I find.
