I've just come back from viewing a house with a landlord I've been in contact with. I love the place. & the landlord is wonderful & said he's got some 2 min jobs to do first & would rather that sorted by him before I move so I can make it as swift as possible. He's always around for help. It's a bit surreal now how it's all coming to place. He's away for 2 weeks now so he's gonna let me think more on it then ring me when he's back & go from there. It's all a shock to the system to me. I have so many people telling me things it's blowing my mind! I'm at breaking point! I'll be glad to have the weekend here! No one to pester me!

How did you all get on at your first place with your child or children?

Hi I moved into new home only month ago with my ds. Hes settling well thankfully. Just kept telling him how we were going to a happy home, we had been sharing a room for a while so think the novelty of own room was good attraction!. Only once has he said he wants to go back living with dad, I would imagine thats all to be expected. I spent lot time worrying about the move and change, then ds takes it all in his stride!.
I hope you will be very happy in your new home, wishing you best of luck.

It was very hard and very emotional for me leaving what was supposed to be the place we were gonna live together as a family til the kids flew the nest, but my 2, then aged 7 and 12 coped brilliantly. It was exhausting too but once we had our belongings here were put our mark on the place and it very quickly became home and now 4 years on we love it here.

I got the keys 1 week before we actually moved in so i got a family member to paint the kids rooms the colour of their choice and their rooms were the first to be set up properly, i wanted them to have their favourite things round them so they would settle quickly and they did.

Good luck, enjoy, and unless your landlord is an actual saint (he might be, I have no idea!) don't get your hopes up too high about those "two minute jobs". However, a couple of broken cupboards here and there you can put up with, and it sounds like it'll be a relief from where you've been staying until now- always nice to have a bit of your own space. I'm afraid I can't comment on moving into my first place as I had already moved out of my folks (into an absolute hole to be fair!!!) by the time I had first DC. Whenever I moved when DD was younger I always used to take DD to Woolworths to pick a new poster out for her bedroom (I'm not even sure where you buy posters nowadays, I feel like such an old lady!!!). Have fun!!! xx
