Is child maintence taken into consideration?

I am finally about to receive done child maintence through the CSA. At the moment I am on income support but will be starting work in the next couple of weeks.

I asked CSA if there will be any deductions as I'm on income support the lady said no as I have only recently started claiming so I am on the new rules. So I will receive the full payment.

I am wondering if housing benifit will take child maintence into consideration? As wen I was working before seemed to take every single penny into consideration? And as I am in private rented accomadition my rent is too high for me to pay without help from housing benifit.

When I had to claim in the past They asked what I got from ex Dp but told me it was just for the system and they didnt take it into account. Hope that helps.

I don't think they do take it into account these days!
They know about one of my Csa payments (as my xp phoned and told them years ago when they did take Csa into account).....but they don't know about the other.....all £48 a month!!!!!

They changed the rules a few years back and child support doesn't affect any benefits anymore.

Have you run your details through the Turn2Us Benefits Checker? Include the amount you are receiving in maintenance and it will tell you if it makes any difference. I know, for example, that it isn't included when working out Tax Credits.
