Could anyone advise - my daughter move back to her home town when ex had 3 affairs so she had family help - he followed her and rented a house about 2 miles away from her and thier 2 boys 2yrs and 4yrs at the time - 12 mths down the line they are now divorced but now he says he is going to buy a house as close as he can near them as in one he as mentioned is only 5 doors away - this is realy getting to her now - he has regualar access thats not a problem as she doesn't want to keep them away from there daddy but feels it will be too comfusing being so close - and apart from talking about the boys care and welfare she wants nothing to do with him. as anyone else had this problem thanks in advance

I think your thread title could equaly be....

' father moves to be close to his kids'

sorry, maybe there is more to it, but all I read from your thread is that your daughter moved away from the children's father and he's followed to be close to his kids.

She should be clear with him perhaps about where the boundaries are but I can't see she can do much more than that.

If he's harrasing her or being threatening it's a different matter.

How far away do you think he should live ?

So Pancakes, has this man moved far? Cos that's a lot of friends/ family/ work/ life and in his case, girlfriends to leave behind if it is. Was he violent or does your daughter feel threatened? If this is the case she should talk to local Woman's Aid asap just so she can get some perspective.

Sounds like a bit of bad loser to me: he's allowed to knock other women off but she's not allowed to leave? Tell her to keep a diary of things that worry her so she's got a record if things get nasty. Tell her to try not to react when he talks about moving 5 doors down. He might and if he does, there's nowt she can do about it. But boundaries are boundaries. Organise regular and specific contact and it won't matter if he moves into the next door house, the kids will have regular access and she'll be close at hand if they need her.

He'll get bored though. 3 affairs? When's he gonna have time to be a pain in the arse with a batting average like that?

good luck x
