now that child maintenance payments are disregarded by housing benefit and counc tax benefit do you have to tell them about csa payments?

I've never had to tell them about mine (although mine come through a private arrangement with ex so I'm not sure if that makes a difference).

I don't really want to tell them - they go into my current account and they are through csa but I don't see why I should tell them if they are disregarded ?

I wouldn't worry about it unless they specifically ask. It might be worth checking with the CAB.

I think it's one of those situations where it's disregarded, but you have to tell them regardless iyswim. It's considered a change of income, so I'd declare it just so they can't get funny about it later on. But yes, it's disregarded. (For now, we'll see what happens under Universal Credit...) Tell the DWP as well if you recieve income support etc. They too disregard it, but it's still something they ask about, and if they do check your claim, as they do every so often, wanting to see bank statements and so on, at least you know you've been truthful.

Hi i started claiming HB 6 months ago and they asked for a letter signed by my ex stating what he was giving me in child maintenance. Although it doesn't affect the claim, they wanted it for their records. He has since starting paying me more, so I told them and although he refuses to confirm it in writing they just noted it on their file.

Can anyone tell me more about the Universal Credit?
