Can anyone give me some benefit advice?

I have been offered a new job and am waiting to start, it will be 16 hours a week over 2 days.

I currently get carer's allowance, IS, ctc, and DS gets DLA high rate care.
16 hours was the best possible amount as I will then receive working tax credit, but not lose my carer's allowance (job is NMW).

Boss wants me to do a few hours for her this week in school time, not 16 hours, though, probably only 4. Will doing some adhoc hours in the next 1- (possibly) 3 weeks be a problem benefit wise? Obv I will be declaring them! Won't get paid for almost a month as it's monthly pay and they've just done wages last week.

Bit of a ramble but hope someone can advise!.

Oh and EEK!! Soo excited and a little scared about going back to work!

I thought if you got WTC you lose carers allowance?

You will have all but about £15-18 deducted from IS.

You wouldn't get WPTC for any week of less than 16 hrs but would still get your approx £50 CTC a week.

Unsure about CA and DLA

I'm not sure RedHelen, I've not heard that but I'm in no way an expert. I know I will be better off working 16 hrs on minimum wage, not sure how much I will receive from each component eg wage, TCs, etc though. It is more this in between stage as I build up to the 16 hours that I'm not sure about. Job is in a new business just opened so they are slowly but surely getting more business you see.

As I get carer's my IS is affected already, so not the standard amount - it makes it a bit less straightforward!
DLA won't be affected as it is not related to household income but is awarded based on care and mobility needs (my son's in this case).
