Hey all.

Hope no-one minds me stating a new thread for a general chat. I'm hoping the boards pick up a bit as it does seem to be a bit slow!

What's everyone upto this weekend?

I'm picking up my baby pram from the shop, seeing my brother and finishing a few work deadlines before I hit mat leave.

Anyone doing anything interesting they wish to share?

Vx

Well, I am having a spray tan this evening :o Tomorrow we are all going to my BFs for the day and then in the evening my ex is picking up the kids to take them to Bude for the Easter weekend, my first weekend in ten years without them!

My BF is coming over on Friday and we are finishing levelling off a hill in my garden (I have been digging for weeks!) and setting up a trampoline for the kids for when they come home :o

On Sunday we are going to Devon for the day to see one of my best friends and to both have a bit of a reunion with two old friends (a bit of a bizarre one that).

Oh hope car passes the MOT after all that hard work......... and we got some scrummy cakes left, chocolate ones with mini eggs on top, all home made of course Smile
And am so envious of you saggyhairyarse cos i love devon but we are miles and miles away unfortunately... and am envious of your spray tan too, i am pale skinned, blonde and blue eyed so you imagine i never tan naturally and have never dared have a spray tan cos it would look so odd on me.

jamestkirk · 20/04/2011 23:28

cakes with mini eggs:o! bet youre real popular with the littluns when it comes to making them! afraid i'd be pinching all the eggs:o

and the car flew thru the mot - the inspector seemed impressed enough and thought it looked like i'd been busy, tho he already knew i'd been on with it for over a year and doubted i'd turn up.

anyway - back to work tomorrow, so much catching up to do, enjoy the weekend:)

Hello everyone hope you don't mind if I join you.

Nice to see a a post where you can just have a chat. Sometimes I think that is all I need (other single parents too) to which can make some a difference to your well being. Happy Parents = happier kids so well done on the idea op.

I have abit of a sad time going on in my life just now as things have been pretty tough going just resently, but hey they say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Hoping for for better times soon.

Happy Easter everyone and hope you are having as lovely weather as we are down in the south.

FeelingOld · 21/04/2011 08:30

Well done Jamestkirk, you must be very pleased that it passed. And not too bad you at work today, you got a long weekend off then.

Welcome Happygolucky and yeah is nice to just have a 'chat' with someone sometimes.....Sorry to hear you been having a difficult time but hopefully things will improve soon. I am in the east midlands and weather has been fab here all week, makes a change for it to be nice when the kids are off. Am looking forward to my long weekend off.

belleshell · 21/04/2011 18:49

ooooooo can i join in please.... so what u all upto this weekend, im taking kids camping with my brother, cousin and their families....first night under canvas for dd ( we did try it in garden a few years ago but once all midnight snack had been eaten ( by 9pm) they buggered off back into their beds.....

What ever u got planned enjoy

jamestkirk · 21/04/2011 22:04

hi there happy go lucky - and welcome too to the aimless banter:o

soz to hear things arent so good of late, can be very true tho, is often the hardest times that can make us far better. and can def agree that happy parents = happy kids. ive been a single parent since the mid 90's and have watched my three grew up and know how much they rely on you being there - constant and happy. even tho that isnt always the case - so just hang on in there for happier times, theyre never that far away. and after all - if i can make it as a single parent - a mad old git from yorkshire :o - i'm sure you can too - take care and happy easter:o

and yep feeling old - ive another long weekend off, is even hot here in north yorks:o

FeelingOld · 21/04/2011 22:15

Blimey, hot in north yorks at this time of year? Grin my brother lives in york and whenever we visit we always presume it will be at least 5 degrees cooler than here and dress accordingly Smile.... hope you enjoy your weekend in the sun... you doing anything exciting?

We are shopping for golf shoes (feet grown again!!) and a fairway driver (whatever one of them is) for my ds tomorrow, saturday taking my parents out, sunday having a lazy day and monday going out with friends, not decided where yet.

FeelingOld · 21/04/2011 22:18

Welcome Belleshell, hope the camping goes ok......we love camping, we have had some lovely times under canvas, but i would just say take plenty of layers (for under you and over you) for night time, cos it will get cold. Have fun.

jamestkirk · 21/04/2011 23:39

cold? ere in yorkshire? is you southerners thats soft:o tho is true - i dated a lass from the west midlands a while ago and when there on weekends thru the summer it was way hotter than here - all that lovely smog:o
as for exciting - theres a local car show on sunday - fords only of course...i wonder... other than that i bought another a few weeks ago as a works runabout - should really get that ready. otherwise i'm prone to wander the moors all day in the sun.

and a fairway driver? think thats a golf bat? ive a dd who plays hockey and dodgeball at uni and has the bruises to show for itConfused - just whats wrong with motorsport? is far more civilised - and you get to sit down.

would agree about camping - is great fun - tho 5am is never as warm under canvas - and dont forget pillows - my favourite trickBlush.

have a great weekend feelingold (cool name btw):o

and welcome belleshell - wheres my mannersBlush - do enjoy camping, with pillows. sounds like youll have to ration the midnight snacks or order takeaways...theres a thought:o

FeelingOld · 22/04/2011 09:05

jamestkirk - am not exactly a southerner, live in lincolnshire but suppose that counts as a southerner to you Grin
My ds is 11 (in a couple of weeks) and he loves golf, he has lessons on a saturday (started at the age of 7) and plays a round of golf in the week at least once, its starting to cost me a fortune though as he progresses he keeps needing more clubs or growing out of the ones he already has, but am hoping they are a good investment andthat he could be the next tiger woods then he can keep me in me old age Grin.

Its nice to be sat here drinking coffee in my pyjamas instead of being up and dressed early and surrounded by loads of kids by now......its been a long week.

Well hope you all enjoy your weekend whatever you are doing.
