Anyone else already dreading bloody Valentines day??!!!

I really don't mind being single most of the time but Valentines day and the build up is just so annoying!!!!

Nah! It is overhyped and all those couples who are forced to pay over the odds for a set menu complete with naff red rose seller. Blardy awful even when I (thought) I was happily married.

I hate all the hype leading up to it in the same way that Halloween, Easter and Christmas are rammed down our throats just so we will buy something.

Yes, it would be nice to be in love and get a card for someone but really it's no big deal for me now - and I would find an unsigned card creepy not romantic.

I used to love valentines day - always had lovely romantic celebrations - loved the flowers/cards/perfume - am DREADING it! I know it's all enforced romance cheese but I will miss it.

Christmas is not great, new year even worse, and Valentine Day just adds to the list. At least it's not a holiday though!

Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Grandparents Day, a day for lovers, days for religious people... maybe we just need one for us singletons (a celebration of the singel state and having just read about Luther and marriage, I think singledom should be celebrated!)

I quite like it. I love the opportunity to send random fit blokes cards.I treat it like "alone at Christmas" when helping others out makes you feel better. I buy some of the nice choc's that are always on special offer and give them to my single girlfriends and enjoy a nice bottle of the pink stuff together with the one's who crap other halves haven't remembered.
It's so commercial now it doesn't really matter who you have a nice time with does it.

Yeah, I definitely dread Valentine's Day. Every year the post office ask me to make a contribution towards the extra vans they have to lay on to cope with all my cards

My ex split with me yesterday, so yes! I've deleted about 12 reminders I set on my phone for various little things to do leading up to it (writing little love notes, doing a trail around the house to a pile of books he wanted, candle lit dinner etc etc) and it's going to be quite shitty tbh.

Worst bit is I can't drink (pg) so I can't even properly get smashed with the girlies like we used to do :(

Personally I love Valentines Day but for the wrong reasons. I'm happily single but I love to get Valentine pressies for my daughters. I've got them some heart choccies and a heart notebook and pen set each.

I'm taking my DC's out for dinner and will probably buy them a present. Would love to have a partner who cares enough to do something romantic but I do think that anything you do on Valentines day is a bit forced anyway.

Nice idea to do something with your children, its very close to my dds birthday so I might just confuse her if I buy her anymore stuff!!!

Saw a very yummy white choc love heart in m&s and was depressed that I had no one to buy it for me but thinking about it I might just buy it for myself and scoff the lot on mon night in front of the telly !!!

I've only had a valentine once and I was living with him at the time so that was sort of expected!

oh and I had one from a little girl once. And a photocopied one from a bloke who had dated and sent the same card to every girl in the sixth form. He nearly got lynched when we all realised.

I do fancy someone, and I am seeing someone else, on and off (mostly off) but I shan't get a card from anyone as I never, ever do. I've sent a few in my time but don't bother any more as it's so depressing to realise they think I'm daft.

So, I've decided the first bloke who actually gets me a proper job valentine card, with flowers and the surprise element and everything, can have me. Entirely. Mind, body and soul.

I am too old to be fussy!!

I'm not dreading it really.I don't enjoy seeing all the paraphanalia that's out in the shops, but to be perfectly honest, I never really had relationships with men who could be bothered on valentines so where's the difference? I might treat myself to something nice, as a valentines to myself!

Yes,first one since dp died.However,got really sweet valentine card from dd that her school had made and she had scribbled in (she has sn)and the other day ds made me a paper aeroplane that he had carefully written "to mum,i luv you" in,so not all bad!
