It's my daughter's 3rd birthday today

And I haven't heard anything from father of the year. Did I really expect anything less but how could he not even get in touch to see her. I know there are still some hours left in the day but we don't get in until approx 6pm then its dinner and straight to bed for my daughter so if he wanted to he would have about half an hour with her.

Am I really expecting too much to want him to make an effort??

no sweetheart, i still want my daughter's father to make an effort - he only does something with her if he wants to and expects her to fit in with him all the time, bugger it if me and dd have any plans

Are you sure he actually remembers that it's today? Some guys are crap with dates. If not, he's just crap.

Don't waste any more emotional energy thinking about it, just enjoy her special day with her.

He helped to produce something very precious, hold onto that thought when you want to stamp on his bollocks

Well he hasn't turned up, but his mum dropped off some cards from her and the family which was nice.

Just can't seem to understand why he wouldn't bother, I suppose if its any consolation, she never asked after him and has gone to bed quite happily xx

she's happy that's the main thing it's hard though isn't it? so if you still want to talk there's loads of us mners about ((((())))

Going off on one is fine. We've all done that on here (well at least I know i have!
Better to do it here than to hold it inside or to let it out at him and have him think you still care (whether you do or not).

So rant away, all most of us lone parents here will be able to empathise with you I'm sure.
