What do you do about dc's hospital appointments and things if you work ??

I am due to start a job in the next couple of weeks (if they ever give me a start date) and this seems to have coincided with 2 of my 3 dc being refered to different things.

I am worried that I will start my job and then be asking for time off almost right away.

Two of the referals are to an orthadontist and I do notmind my mum taking them to those if they are just for check ups, but at the moment the appointments are discussing the best way forward for dd2, and dd1 hasn't actually been seen yet.

Dd1 has also been refered to the hospital for possible scoliosis and so will be requiring an initial appointment and then possibly regular check ups. I want to attend these as it is important.

What do you all do ??

Do you have any confirmed dates yet?
Speak to the personel department and explain the situation. They will appreciate you letting them know and help you work around it. Remember they have chosen you to work for them, so they must want you there!

Be prepared to be flexible. If you can ask to work extra hours to cover it, or take the time off as holiday or unpaid leave if you are only just starting the job.

A girl at our office just started a new job elsewhere. She told them she had a holiday already booked at her interview. They were happy for her to start and after 4 days she went off on her holiday!

I have one of the dates for dd2, but i'm still waiting on the other dates.

I will be working set hours so can't really do the work another time.

Dd1's appointments, will actually be in the hospital I am working in, so I am hoping that my mum will be able to bring her and maybe I can use my lunch hour to attend the appointment.

The staff who interviewed me seemed lovely, but I didn't know about any of this then, so I now feel a bit guilty that I might need time off.
