apparently single mothers - that are full time students, dont (according to the LSC) qualify for legal aid any more...

I am very cross. And sad. and terrified.

You can definitely take a McKenzie's friend, and all but the most stubourn of judges will refuse to allow them in.

Some charge, and some charge expenses (travel etc). Either way it's still a lot cheaper than a solicitor and you often get much better advice as they are specialised in their area. Well experienced one's are at any rate, though anyone can in fact be a McKenzie's friend.

I recommend Fnf (families need father's). They are a charity whose aimed is to keep fathers, mothers and extended family involved in a child's life after separation. You may be able to find a McKenzie's friend through them. I can recommend one if you need, but she tends to be very busy. If she can't help you she may be able to point you at someone else who can.
