Has anyone done this? Not the guided tour, just the one that’s around £18 per ticket. Looks like it could be interesting so it would be good to hear anyone’s experiences

It's ok but not amazing. The queue to get in can be quite long. You go up a lot of steps, then there is a video (I think!) sort of introducing the bridge and the building process. There are lots of photos about how it was built, and there's a kids passport where they can stamp it at various points. You can hang around in the top part for as long as you like - I think there were glass bits you can see down through. People spend a long time here taking photos - the views are decent but the tower interior is not particularly attractive or well kept. Then you go down the steps on the other side and across the path into the engine room. This is ok if you're a fan of engineering but even then it's not the best thing ever. Overall the whole thing was interesting but not wildly so and i wouldn't repeat it even if it were free. I'd give it 6/10.

We did it recently. You can get it on 2for1 if you travel by train (National Rail). I thought it was quite interesting but we’d have struggled to stretch it beyond an hour, and that was with lots of playing around on the glass walkways. If you have a free morning or afternoon, it’s a nice option, especially if you can time it around a bridge lift.

We’ve done this. It’s ok, not amazing. Because of the structure you don’t get a brilliant view, but it’s fun to cross the bridge at the top and look down. We did it purely because dogs are allowed and we like to take our dog on trips out.

thanks. It doesn’t sound all that so I may re-think!

We went earlier in the year as part of a birthday trip to London. We enjoyed it, it wasn't expensive compared to the other things we did that day and we spent about an hour in total walking through and taking photos. If you're looking for a way to kill an hour it'll fit the bill, if you're looking for something special I'd look for something else

There's a boat tour along the Thames that gives you a history of all the bridges. That was good, I'd go again.

My grandkids (8 & 10) thought it was great. They don't live in the UK so this was a landmark that they knew from photos and videos about London, but mainly they knew about the bridge from the Harry Potter films and anything to do with HP was always going to be a hit. We approached the bridge by taking the riverboat from Westminster, so they got a similar experience of seeing London from the river that HP gets in the film.

FWIW, they thought that the (self-guided) bridge tour was far more interesting than the London Eye.
