Brio compatible train track. Got some for our son's 2nd birthday and it is played with every single day and he's nearly 5. We now have a huge collection of junctions, points, bridges etc so it's great for grandparents to add a bit to as a present as well.

Agree re Brio - my 2 and 4 year olds play with those tracks practically every day. We’ve gone from a set of 8 tracks and one train when my oldest was 2 to over 100 tracks and countless trains. They both love it.

Enormous sack of second hand Duplo from Vinted. It’s the best value thing I think I’ve ever bought. Not a day has gone by without 4 and now 2yo playing with it since I bought it 2 years ago!

Surely toys are toys at that age. My girls both lived Brio train. They also loved their pop up tent and pop up play tunnel. And I loved the fact they could be packed away neatly at the end of the day 😂

A plastic doctors set topped up with old bandages, new real plasters, calpol spoons/syringes and empty jars for pretend medicine, plus some small circle shaped stickers that he can put onto a toy to make them look like they have chicken pox.

A water painting mat, like a waterproof tablecloth and a paintbrush you refill with water, when water touches the mat it shows a pattern so it’s like magic painting, the mat dries and can be reused forever.

Voucher for a local farm park

Yoto player and magnatiles
Edit to add, my 2yo DS was gifted a brio set, it's still in the cupboard, been out once he wasn't interested.

Toy kitchen also always good x

A really good torch, batteries and an indoor tent. Decathlon do pop up beach tents that work well and far more durable than the pretty wigwams which fall down every five minutes

Ikea also do it

My sons had it and played with it for ages even if we ended up with layouts filling most of downstairs
