Hi Everyone,

Looking for some advice on which Area would be better to Live/Move? Terms of Amenities, Safety etc

Moving to London soon & got choice between 1 Bed Flat in Acton (Near High Street) & Raynes Park.

Would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Where do you work ?

Sales Online so Commuting not an issue. More concerned with Local Area in Terms of things to do & Safety. Thanks!

Much prefer RP, nicer area, you can easily get into Wimbledon. Just a nicer vibe imo.

I have a friend in Raynes Park and live in Ealing. My impression is that transport links are a lot better in Acton so that there's more going on generally with easier access to everything, though Raynes Park is definitely a nice area.

Acton high street isn’t leafy, why these 2 areas? It’s not dangerous though. How close to Acton main line?

Username9589 · 08/10/2025 16:39

Thank you for Replies so far; appreciated.

between these 2 Areas due to Family owning Property here which I can Rent for much Cheaper than through Estate Agent.

Depending on whereabouts in Acton I'd go there. Raynes Park is nice but very suburban.

Acton has great transport links and is livelier.

Depending on where in Raynes Park it is, you may be right on the edge of Wimbledon Village, which is lovely.

Thanks for Replied again. Not easy decision at all!

I would definitely pick Raynes Park , Acton isn’t leafy in most of it and not particularly safe or nice ‘ in my opinion’ and I have to go there regularly for work . Raynes Park is on a good train line, quick into centre and very very near lovely Wimbledon . Lots of green space too

Thank you; leaning towards Raynes Park after these Posts! Open to further Advice

I have lived in both and would hands down choose Raynes Park. It's much nicer, but as a PP said, it's possibly a little quiet if you are young and vivacious. Do you drive? If so, it's very easy to get into Surrey from RP.

sammyspoon · 08/10/2025 18:38

Acton is fabulous for transport. Quick to Heathrow and also Elizabeth Line for central and Canary Wharf. It’s really smartened up recently and has nice parks plus near Kew, Chiswick etc. They’re very different options so you need to decide what your priorities are

GiveMeWordGames · 08/10/2025 18:40

I would 100% go Raynes Park over Acton, much nicer area, good train line. Frequent buses to Wimbledon, Kingston and Morden (Northern Line), also Thameslink from Wimbledon Chase station.

BUT just off Coombe Lane could mean a multitude of things and if it was too near the A3 then I would be less enthusiastic. If near the station end then fine.

Thanks! It’s right next to Station, Yards away

You need to visit and see which vibe suits you better.

RP is pretty quiet and suburban. Acton is gritty and urban but with some leafy bits. Acton is much closer to central London in terms of distance and transport.
