Hi all, me and my dh are looking to leave London and thinking of moving to Lichfield Staffordshire as it’s near my family in Tamworth. I will commute into London twice a week for work. I’ve lived in London 20 years so nervous to leave. Is Lichfield a good place to live and are there any areas to steer clear of? Thanks all

We moved to Lichfield about three years ago from a nearby town. We love it! One of our grown up kids has also moved as well. There is lots going on in the arts, sports, community events and for children and babies etc. The city centre is busy and it has not many empty shops. Loads of restaurants and coffee shops and always worth a mooch. Lots of history as well including the Cathedral and some historic houses.
The new housing estates have loads of kids play parks and of course Beacon Park in the city centre is amazing!
Its only 45 mins to the Peak District and 15 mins to Cannock chase, but only 40 mins to Birmingham on the train and just over an hour to London on a fast train.
There are no issues with school places at the moment and they are building some new primary schools.
Lots of walkways and cycle paths and green space also.

Oh my goodness! This is exactly what I wanted to hear! Thank you. You’ve made me feel so excited again.

I’ve lived in London 20 years but originally from Tamworth. I have been fearing moving back but Lichfield has always been on my list of places that’s I’d consider if I ever moved back that way!

I’ve been looking at houses online and it is very doable.

I love Litchfield from a visitors perspective. I meet a friend there for a day every three or four months and I always think how lovely it is. And welcoming. I’d describe it as thriving. Plenty of people shopping and eating.
