Hey. It's Sunday morning and I'm alone, as usual. After over a decade of feeling lonely on a Saturday night, I'm thinking about how nice it would be to have a special man to go to the cinema with, maybe out for a meal or more one day. I'm anxious, embarrassed even about putting my photo on dating sites. Does anyone here have a experience to share or advice to give? I'd really appreciate it. x

Also nervous to try - will see what the suggestions are - as never attempted before despite being encouraged to by younger friends who grew up way more comfortable with the process

Dp and I met via OurTime and are v happy, but whenever I mention it on here I am greeted with cries about how utterly crap and full of unappealing men it is. Tbh they all are, as are most pubs, clubs etc - you only need one.

I've only ever met partners online in the past 32 years but if I were going to try to do it any other way I'd volunteer. The nice men I've met volunteering have outnumbered nice men anywhere else.

I can’t imagine many middle aged women going for a site called shagslam. Or even flirthouse. Horrendous.

PermanentTemporary · 05/06/2025 05:23

Not going to bother to report but let's just say I looked at the Trustpilot reviews for the shgslm mentioned above and they are all 'one star, it's a scam'...

GuevarasBeret · 05/06/2025 05:37

I’m not in London but bumble has been fine for me.

This. I rejected it based on the name alone.

Fortuner · 07/06/2025 11:30

I checked Trustpilot but saw no Shagslam listed there so what's the truth?

PermanentTemporary · 07/06/2025 13:06

The truth is you need to get glasses, and a proper job rather than promoting scam sites.

Fortuner · 07/06/2025 17:30

All I did was ask a question based on comments made. You seem to have personal issues that you need to address

Candicebarker · 13/04/2026 12:51

I'm over 50, and I use Shagslam, so I don't understand what makes using a dating site such an issue. We seem to have some very uptight people here. If you don't support finding dates online, simply don't use online dating sites. However, throwing shade on people who do online dating is immature and petty.

Stolenyouth · 15/04/2026 07:11

Online dating sites or hook up sites? Each to their own but my comment was that most mature women would actively avoid anything that was clearly just a hook up site and if the OP had said she was just gagging for a shag the response would have been different.
She wants someone to go to the cinema with! 😁
