Morning in London with 6yo

Hiya all. Going to London in a few weeks time and our plans for Saturday morning have fallen through (or rather, I’ve decided I don’t want to spend £75 on the Twist Museum) We’ve already got London Eye, Sealife, the bus tour and (god help us) Winter Wonderland in plan.

What would you suggest for a couple of hours on a Sat am for a 6yo?

Look up the butterfly trail at the now building opposite Tottenham Court Road. looks fun!

Now building (just out of Tottenham Court Road station by Centre Point) would be excellent with a 6 year old as long as you keep tight hold of their hands in the crowds, but it's out of the OP's way and not really worth a special trip unless she's going to do the Leicester Square Lego shop as well.

Ah I see, over three days! In that case any of the above ideas would work. I'd choose dinosaurs, transport or science depending on his interests. Dinosaurs and science are free, though wonderlab is extra. Transport is quite expensive as a one off. The ticket lasts a year so good value if you are local but less so otherwise.

I'd avoid hamleys or lego shop personally, but they're always suggested on these threads. Just my kids that make that kind of trip hell on earth then?

As others have said it depends where you are and what your lunch plans are. Covent Garden is good for a few hours and the transport museum there is brill. Or Trafalgar Sq and a visit to the National Gallery or National Portrait Gallery?

Thanks for all the ideas, there's a lot to go at there. I think we're going to do Darwin for lunch so we can go have a look at the sky garden but as we don't need to be at Sea Life until 3:30ish we can have a late lunch which does leave us a bit of time. We're staying at kings cross so good transport links.
