Anyone familiar with the Chessington area?

Saw a few affordable properties advertised but never been. I know the surroundings Surbiton and Kingston and they are lovely but out of our price range.
Can anyone suggest best parts, trains, schools, shops etc? Is it a good place to raise kids?
