Moving from Whitton (Richmond) to Bromley

Hi, We are thinking of moving from Whitton(Richmond) to Bromley. We figured we would get more for the money in terms of property size, and the area looks green, well connected etc.
I wanted some feedback from member here who know the area auto how diverse the population is, good primary and grammar schools (we have 7 & 4yr olds), preferred areas for great properties and areas to avoid.
Any advice is very appreciated. Thank you!

I live in Hayes. Great schools, lots of green spaces. Good transport links to London from either Hayes to Charing Cross, or Bromley south to Victoria. Not very diverse, but that hasn't been a problem for us as a mixed race family.

@skippy67 thank you, we visited Bromely and few other areas around it and the area itself looks great, especially in and around Beckenham. i will look into Hayes.

Bromley is not a grammar area, but lots of kids travel to Bexley / Chis & Sid or further. One kid from DDs cohort went to Chatham.

Newstead and St Olaves are super selectives. Depending where you go the schools are very good. Hayes, Langley, Bullers Girls and Bullers Boys for secondary. Tiny catchments though so if you are targetting them you need to be aware. Loads of great primaries, I have three within a ten minute walk and would have happily sent my kids to any of them.

Hi, we are also planning to move to Bromley/ Bexley..we have shortlisted a couple of areas - Orpington, Petts wood, Chislehurst and Sidcup. Any suggestions on good primary schools in these areas? How is it living in these areas?

Crofton is a large but well respected primary school in catchment for most (but not all parts) of Petts Wood. Happy to help with anything about Petts Wood! It is a great place to bring up a family,
