My dd 9 has an inset day on Monday and I said I would take her to London to see the lights etc. I'm now panicking slightly as I don't have an exact plan of what to do or where to go !! She wants to see Buckingham palace and Big Ben. I also want to take her to convent garden and hamleys. Any other suggestions of nice places to go or a good route to take from others would be fab as I'm a bit useless and nice places to eat also. I want to take the bus rather than the underground or walk. I think I need an Oyster card.

You don't need an oyster. Just use your debit card. Your DD is free.

Remember Big Ben still has scaffolding around it.

Tower of London is always fun, it's very cold though so wrap up properly warm if you go there.
The guards outside horseguards parade (near downing st / trafalgar sq) are pretty cool.

Fortnum and Mason would be nice to look round this time of year. Personally I'd avoid hamleys its just a hyped up toy shop, mine prefer the lego shop and m and m store in Leicester Square.

Its the Changing of the Guard at 11am at Buckingham Palace on Monday.

Amorinos make ice creams in the shape of flowers - you can have as many flavours as you want - my 10yo loves it!
