Anyone know ilford in east London we'll?

My husband and I are planning on buying a new build apartment for our little family. We could only really afford a place in ilford hill. I'm just not sure about the area.. I have lived in bow east London my whole life, it's just so different in ilford. Anyone have anything good to say about ilford lol?

Depends really. some parts of Ilford very nice huge park. some are not so great. Majority of people are Pakistani or indian I'd say. And quiet of lot of eastern European too.

I just don't think i could live there tbh i love tower hamlets so much. and that is not because of the people mentioned above as i am asian myself. i just find the area and mall a bit behind compared to westfield or even shopping in roman rd crisp st market.

I lived there about 20 years ago and it was " rough" but had it's little pockets of charm. I'd go and have a good look around the area at different times before making a decision.

I don't know the area but I've just had a look on the Met police and school comparison websites. It looks like the crime rates are very high but some of the schools actually look excellent.

I grew up in Ilford, and parents still live there so know the area quite well.
Ilford hill is fairly close to the station which is good but the area can be a bit sketchy (apparently my three year old son's favourite thing to do is make faces at the dealers that hang around opposite Zee & Co while they wait for the bus home) and I'm not a fan of going back - I only moved to Leytonstone so not a million miles away.

To be fair though, when I lived there I knew no different and had no issues with the area at all.

Somehow, that part of Ilford and Manor Park missed out on the gentrification that hit Stratford and forest gate.

I use the puregym there which btw has a womans only bit.
The area isnt bad I would say I never been bothered, the town can have a lot of teens but they dont bother me other than that the area is highly asian populated so you can get some good food
