Hello
we are a family considering to move to Blackheath for its outstanding schools. I would very much appreciate any advice with regards to the area St Josephs Vale, is it safe to live? any crimes or social disadvantages there? is £400,000 prices for 2 bedrooms flat is standard for that area? cheap? expensive? or does it indicate a problem or deficit in the property?

Wow I would love to live in Blackheath but sadly live in one of the more deprived parts of the Borough .
As far as I am aware its very safe, crime wise (though a young man was sadly stabbed and he died a year or so ago now) though burglaries I think are high on the list .
400,000 is about average , its expensive but you get a lovely place to live and the Heath itself and the Village are beautiful places.

Thank you very much indeed! Much appreciated!
Is there any idea please which neighborhood would be most recommended to live in, Cator state, St.Josephs vale, or Cidars Close.

You are welcome

I knew people on the Cator Estate , but it was many many years ago . The area seemed quiet and peaceful and very close to the Heath and the pond and the village
I don't know about the other places .

I had friends who rented in st Joseph’s vale years ago. It was quiet although soundproofing between ground floor and first floor flats wasn’t very good. Their flat seemed quite small in terms of room size, they eventually moved to a conversion for more space. I remember it being a bit of a trek to the station. Black Heath is generally nice.

I've no idea of prices these days, but the Span estates on the Cator Estate are lovely. I grew up on one (back in the 1960s and 70s) but my mum still lives there. They have a really good community spirit and there are always children playing outside in the communal areas when I go to visit my mother.

Thank you all for the invaluable advice.

My understanding is that St. Josephs Vale is built on a damp area? Any idea if that is true and any complications caused by this?
