Going next month with a group of friends to the theatre and need to eat beforehand. Something decent but not expensive. Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Zedels - near Piccadilly - lovely French Art Deco brasserie

The Phoenix Artist Club on Charing cross rd is brilliant for pre-theatre. Only a few minutes from Leicester sq. Go back after the theatre and the place rocks. It's where all the performers go after being on stage. Totally unique in the area and a real find.

Sarastro is a good experience.

Flatiron is about 5 mins walk, divine steaks. Get there early so you don't have to queue.
Or Cote do a nice pre theatre menu, you would have to book. It's on St Martin's Lane.

Chinatown is just off Leicester square.

Loads of lovely and relatively inexpensive restaurants.

Zedels will be the nearest to 'decent but not expensive' - and even if you don't like it, you can look at the amazing interior.

Hawksmoor pre theatre might be an option? A la carte is expensive, but the pre theatre menu is great. (Drinks expensive though, not a good option if you want lots of those)

Hawksmoor pre-theatre is a brilliant idea. Their menu is a bargain and lovely.
