Oh I know this local site is dead. But I will bump and bump until you answer me, much like a small child trying to get your attention.

My little family is moving to Hedge End next week. I know it's not far from the city center where we have always lived but I'm still a bit nail-bitey about moving to where I have no friends in walking distance.

I don't know the area brilliantly well. So far I have mainly ascertained there are lots of roundabouts and a big Sainsburys. Can anyone recommend things for me and my nearly ten month old DS to do? Baby groups? Activities? Places to visit? Walks? Does anyone in the area want to meet up with us?

I also am after a heads-up on the best takeaways please, as I always use moving as an excuse not to cook for a week.

Thanking you lovely people in advance...

Brilliant, just realised the takeaway bit makes it sound like I actually cook normally. My DP would be if he could see that.

But, seriously, we need takeaway recommendations. I've budgeted for them and everything. And s

helloo there :-) Can't help with any suggestions I am afraid as I am in Eastleigh. Hope the move goes well. Where are you moving from.

Trial and error on the take away front is my suggestions :-)

hello. I live in Bishopstoke, which is a few miles from Hedge End, but lived in Hedge End for 6 years before kids.

First of all, the important subject of takeways. Canton House I think it is called in Botley High Street is a lovely chinese. That should sort you out for the first night!

10 month old is a great age to start somewhere new. That's when my son just started wanting to go to groups and do more stuff. I could meet you at the local surestart centre if you want. I usually go on a Monday morning. I've got a nearly three year old and a six month old. If you let me have your email address I'll can tell you about more groups we do. My hotmail address has got my full name in it, so I don't want to post it! sorry to be mysterious

There is a lovely park near Bursledon - I think it's called Victoria park, or something like that.

Here

There's also a lovely little farm park nearby. I can't remember what it's called - I'll find out for you and come back to this thread.

Found it

Manor Farm country park. Lovely walks here too. You can walk down to the river and splash around. My dd loves it. [smmile]

Purbani Tandoori! We don't even live in Hedge End, and we still get our curries from there. Very tasty.
Hope the move is going/has gone well

It's not exactly Hedge End but you could try the FREE buggy walk at Royal Victoria Country Park in Netley Abbey, Southampton. They meet on a Thursday afternoon at 2pm (weather permitting)

A lovely lady e-mailed me a while ago and I lost her e-mail Blush Please pm if you still want to meet up. Or if anyone else in the area wants to please do, I have a bouncy 14 month old that I need to tire out.

Oh, and on the pressing issue of takeaways it turned out our favourites in Portswood and Bitterne still deliver to us
