Cambuslang - opinions? Deciding where to move to...

I am just looking for some opinions on Cambuslang. We are looking at renting a house in Glasgow and Cambuslang keeps coming up withing rental budget. It is also handy for the city but not too expensive.

Would you recommend renting there or not? I have heard issues with knife crime and gangs... Not sure which parts to avoid or not...

I stay a wee bit away from Cambusland in Uddingstson - AFAIK its no better or worse than anywhere else - there are some good bits and bad bits, like anywhere I guess.

I know a few folk that live there, families, middle income, nice houses and they have never had any problems with knife crime etc

Have just realised it is technically Westburn (?!?) but nearer to Cambuslang than Newton.
Does that make sense?

You would need a car to get to shops. work, etc if you were not on the train/bus line.

Otherwise it is a pleasant area but more hard working working class mixed with a bit of council and a bit of middle class.

There aare virtually no activities in the area for kids and you would need to travel to other areas for this.
