New Mum in Winchester

Hello,

I'm moving into the area next week and wanted to hear from Mums in the area about activities to do with toddlers and babies and places to meet other Mums. I have a son who is 2 and am 20 weeks pregnant.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Asia

Hello,

A few suggestions for you:

Check out the Sure Start Children's Centres (Sparklers in Winnall and The Lanterns in Weeke). They run various toddler groups and baby massage etc.

Winchester has lots of baby and toddler groups. Timing wise, the only one I know off the top of my head is the NCT bumps and babies one (toddlers welcome too) at the Salvation Army Hall on Parchment St. Next one is on Monday 21st June at 10am. Non-NCT members are welcome and everyone is very friendly.

There are various things on at the Winchester Discover Centre (which is where the library is), including baby bounce and rhyme for 0-3s on Thursday mornings.

Check out the River Park leisure centre, which runs a Creepie Crawlies soft play session for toddlers.

Try and get hold of a copy of The Stork (the local NCT magazine) from your GP's surgery or HV. At the back it has lots of listings for music classes, swimming lessons, ante & post natal fitness etc.

Hope you enjoy Winchester .

Welcome to Winchester. There is a clinic run by the health visitors on a Thursday morning (10-2.30 pm) at the United Church on Jewry Street, which is a good place to meet other mums, and they certainly used to have a list of most of the playgroups etc in the area.

All - thank you so much for your help and suggestions. Now that I'm here (and still unpacking boxes) I'm looking for a cleaner to help out at home. Does anyone have any recommendations?
