Hospitals near Buckhurst Hill

Hi there,

We are moving to Buckhurst Hill next month and I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good maternity hospital in the area? I'm currently going to The Royal London as that is my local at the moment. I'm not due until November and can either continue with the Royal London or change to another hospital once we move. I am likely to have a c-section. Does anyone have any recent experience of Whipps Cross, Newham or King George's? Any other suggestions would be helpful too. Thank you!

Queen's Romford has a lovely birthing suite. And a fantastic NICU should the little one run into difficulties.

My experience of Whipps was a c-section 10 years ago and it was fine - but I knew the Dr on duty so I might have got preferential treatment? I did pay for my own room and it was worth every penny to be able to catch 40 winks when I wanted, have my own bathroom and no restricted visiting for dh.

I personally wouldn't touch Newham or King Georges with a barge pole. Just my opinion of course.

I gave birth at Whipps on the labour ward in January and, despite the surroundings being a little grim, the midwives and doctors were fantastic. The birthing suites are much newer/nicer and if you aren't due until November there's a good chance the labour ward would have had a facelift too - as this is presently well underway.

Booked a private room in the Forest Suite afterwards and although the surroundings could do with a lick of paint, I thought it was well worth it.

Good luck
