Ohh I like the sound of the Balloon festival.. a colleague of mine lives there so will make further enquiries as never heard of it before

I'm away this weekend too - my first child free weekend.. woo hoo (although feeling very apprehensive at leaving DD at the moment ... I'm off on my motorbike for the Breastway round run... anyone fancy sponsoring / donating to this great cause www.breastwayround.com/

PS.. sorry kind of hijacked the posting there!! :-0

RedHairedGirlie · 26/05/2010 22:36

PS forgot to mention that all the bikes head into George Sq on the bank holiday Monday, arriving about 13:30 - I think there is entertainment and things going to celebrate the end of the charity run.. so if anyone is at a loose end on Monday, it should be a nice afternoon

Finlaystone Country Estate - Langbank, PA14 6TJ (Tel 01475-540505) has a Teddy Bears? Picnic & Dolls? Tea Party

Sun 30th May 1pm ? 4pm

I haven't been but DH's colleague says it's good!

BexieID · 26/05/2010 23:17

We went to Finlaystone last sunday. The kids play area was really good.

Drumplellier Country Park has a family fun day on Sunday 6th June.

Oh, theres something on in Drymen on Saturday, but we have a b/day party to go to!

geordieminx · 27/05/2010 07:55

Thats better girls. I knew you wouldnt disappoint!

Its just sometimes local events are only advertised in the immediate area so its easy to miss them!

Its the Glasgow Mela on 20th june in kelvingrove, usually nice.

Anyone know when glasgow green festival on?

Red- what kind of bike have you got? I'm impressed!

There is a website for the balloon festival but am on phone just now so cant link. If the weather is good its amazing, lots of balloons taking off early morning and dusk.

We were at Kelburn Castle near Largs yesterday (in the pouring rain...) - they have a 'Rustic games' on at the weekend - welly throwing and the like. It's a great place though - the Secret Forest is great and the castle has been graffittied (sp?) all over - see here.

Finlaystone is fab - one of our faves.

geordieminx · 29/05/2010 16:08

its the glasgow festival on glasgow green on 30th july.

We went to kelburn last year, although it was roasting. We had a lovely time, you could spend all day there exploring!

Thanks lilly, I will mentally wish you a wee happy birthday on the day then (to try to take my mind off the nerves!)

Finlaystone was fab. We didn't realise it was going to be quite so HOT today! Great time had by all

I've had a look at the Kelburn castle website, Midnight, and that might be the next place we try. It looks good!
