Bethd1972 · 14/05/2010 08:57

I just moved to Bath and have a DD aged 2.5. We would love to know about any toddler playgroups or set up a new one! Anyone looking for energetic playmates for their toddlers? (I could use some mates too!)

Hi there, I sometimes take my DSs to baskervilles Its timetable is different for school hols though. What area of Bath are you in?

MogTheForgetfulCat · 02/06/2010 22:41

There's a nice playgroup in Nexus church (top of Walcot Street) on Fridays - I think possibly also Wednesdays, but not sure as I work that day. Also a nice one at St Mary's church in Bathwick - haven't been for ages, so can't remember days...

If you go to the central library (in the Podium) you should be able to pick up the Grapevine listings magazine, which has listings and contact numbers for all of those sorts of things.

Where in Bath are you? There are some other things going on near me (in Larkhall).

I have 2 DSs, ages 4 and 2 - am sure my littlest one would have a fab time with your DD - he is v energetic!

Only just seen this notice. Ditto to the above. Also try the NCT magazine and Bath Magazine for ideas.

If you're looking for stuff to do in the holidays Jo Jingles are doing Summer Fun sessions which are usuallly lots of fun

Hi Beth

Moving to Bath from London in Sept, have signed my son up for Jo-jingles and Tumble tots to start with. My 2 yr old will be looking for energetic toddlers to play with and I too could use some mates.

We should be settled in second week of Sept - in Newbridge - anything to use up his energy would be welcomed!

Hi Beth,

Just wondering how you have got on, I am staying in Bath for a month from next week with a 2 1/2 DD and 8 month DS and looking for stuff to do with them in Larkhall or town centre.

MogTheForgetfulCat any info welcome!

Thanks

MogTheForgetfulCat · 06/10/2010 21:15

Ooh, I'm in Larkhall! Things to do locally:

  • Alice Park (if weather holds...) Also nice playground (almost always deserted - odd) in recreation ground off Brooklyn Road
  • Mum & Me classes in Oriel Hall in Larkhall on Thursdays - think there are 3 classes, sort of 9ish, 10ish and 11ish. Woman called Sally runs these, she is v nice! Think there are other things going on in Oriel Hall, but not sure what...
  • Fairtrade cafe in St Saviour's church on Friday mornings (9-12, I think) - will have toys, plenty of little ones go
  • Playgroup in St Saviour's church on Wednesdays (I think - haven't been for ages)
  • The playgroup in Nexus that I mentioned above, on Weds (I think) and Fri mornings
  • Library in Podium in town is good, sometimes has singing sessions for little ones
  • Egg cafe at Theatre Royal
  • Jo Jingles - the one I know about is Tues mornings at St Mary's in Bathwick, but am sure there are others
  • Zany Zone softplay at Leisure Centre - normally not too mad during the week, quite small but my DSs love it. Also swimming there, they have some mum and baby sessions

Am sure there is a lot more, but that will have to do for now, brain gone blank. As I said, I am in Larkhall, so let me know if you want to meet up. I work Mon-Weds, but free other days! DS1 at school, so would be just me and DS2 (2.7). Let me know if you do, will give you my number.

hello, just moved to Bath after splitting from my dh, I have 2 ds, 4.6 and nearly 3. I have alwasy lived around this area so am a bit familiar with it but don't actually know any mums in the area.

It would be great to meet some people in Bath, not only for my ds but for my sanity too!

MogTheForgetfulCat · 11/11/2010 21:55

Hello, I've got 2 DSs also, similar ages to yours. Where are you living? Would love to meet up - work Mon-Weds but then off Thurs-Fri, if you fancy meeting up for coffee or at a playgroup or something?

mrsmoores · 11/11/2010 22:08

Hi, I'm in Bear Flats just down from Rolfeys. Would be lovely to meet up. Just off to bed now as the weather outside is making me feel like I need to be cosy! Am a SAHM so Thurs or Fri good for me.

MogTheForgetfulCat · 06/12/2010 21:39

Gah, sorry not to have replied, forgot all about posting this! Am still up for meeting up any Thursday/Friday - maybe have to be after Christmas now, though, I guess?

docket · 08/12/2010 14:19

Hi, can I crash this thread?! I moved back to Bath in September and would love to meet some people, I live in Bear Flat too. I have a ds and a dd at infant school and a 1 year old so would be up for meeting for a coffee/at a playgroup. Thursdays/fridays work for me!

This week is no good, as have eldest's nativity tomorrow morning (tissues at the ready...) and need to do some Chrissy shopping on Friday, probably. But could do one day next week, I think? And am planning to start going to Walcot toddlers on a Friday after Christmas, which is really nice - although have also heard good things about a toddler group in Widcombe (better for Bear Flat than Walcot!) on a Thursday or Friday? Not sure which day or where, will try to find out - mum friend at DS1's school goes to it, says it is nice...

mrsmoores · 17/12/2010 19:58

hello, sorry I haven't been in touch about meeting up. My boys are ill again, I am so sick of cbeebies!
Docket it would be great to meet up with you too. Maybe after Christmas would be better now?

docket · 21/12/2010 13:42

We are all ill too. Hideous! Would love to meet up after Christmas, have a good one!

MogTheForgetfulCat · 22/12/2010 23:03

Yep, me too - have a great Christmas, everyone!

docket · 11/01/2011 11:25

Hello!
Happy New Year everyone. Do you fancy meeting up at a playgroup some time in the not too distant? There is one in Widcombe on a Thursday that is quite good or I'd be up for trying the Walcot one.

docket

MogTheForgetfulCat · 11/01/2011 21:48

Yes, am up for that. Can't do this Thursday (have to go into town to buy 2 x birthday presents, only time I can do it this week) but should be fine for any other week. Up for either Widcombe (friend goes to that, she realy likes it) or Walcot - so could do that this Friday?

docket · 12/01/2011 13:19

I can't do this Friday but could do either next week, that any good for you?

MogTheForgetfulCat · 12/01/2011 20:30

Yep, can do either next week. Quite fancy having a shufty at the Widcombe group if you're up for that.

docket · 13/01/2011 15:27

Widcombe on Thursday good for me. It starts at 10. How will we know each other? Carnation in buttonhole and copy of the Financial Times?!

mrsmoores · 15/01/2011 21:50

Hello, just checked this thread as I had forgotten about it!

Thurs is good for me too at Widcombe. I think there should be a funny handshake and a code word!

If it helps I am 5ft 9, brown longish brown hair and will be with my ds 3 who is blonde and looks nothing like me and tends to skip and suck his fingers!! I'll wear my bright red short coat too. Quite happy to carry a financial times but can't stand carnations

MogTheForgetfulCat · 16/01/2011 19:53

Well, I am huuuugely pregnant, 5'7", dark brown shoulder-length hair, will have DS2 with me who is nearly 3 but v small, dark blond, prob wearing orange coat (him, not me). Velvet flowery shoulder bag (me, not him). Ummmm, that'll have to do for identifying marks.

Where IS the Widcombe group? Never been before...

docket · 17/01/2011 19:48

The group starts at 10, it's at the (Baptist?) church at the end opposite the White Hart pub, there's a small carpark at the front of it.

I'm about 5'7, brown hair chin length-ish and I'll be with ds2 who is 1. I'll probably be wearing jeans. I've arranged to have coffee with another mum from my other kids' school beforehand, she has a 2 yo dd and might want to come too, hope that would be okay?!

mrsmoores · 17/01/2011 20:20

I know where you mean, will see you there.

MogTheForgetfulCat · 18/01/2011 19:30

Sheesh, got to go to bank on Thurs now, just made appointment for 10.30. So, depending on how long it takes to discuss mortgage (yawn) might not make it this week, sorry.
