Moving to Wanstead

I'm moving to Wanstead in a couple of weeks. I have a seven month old son and am currently on maternity leave. Can anyone recommend any good activities for us that will help me meet some other parents? Thanks.

How did your move go? I reccomend the baby sensory classes which take place in the Quaker Meeting House on Bush rd. Fab for babies (and to meet mummies!)

I would second Baby Sensory, my friend hired them for her baby's 1st bday and the baby's loved it. There was definately a gap for little baby classes.

I'd also consider swimming. I have taken my son (who is now just over 2) since he was 4 months. We do classes with Waterbabies. It is pricey, but they have lovely venues (4 star hotels, private school swimming pools) so I think it is worth the money.

There are also various music classes, I have seen Jo Jingles in action and she was very good. I also went along to Lisa's Piccalo singalong on Monday am in Christchurch, not sure if she still does it. You just pay on the day (instead of booking in advance) which I liked and she is really engaging.

Most library's have a free singalong, the Library in South Woodford (which might just be a walk, depending on where you end up in Wanstead) does theirs on Tues at 2, get there early to get a good spot!

Also I volunteer for the NCT, we offer various meet ups etc. Sign up to our free e-group - uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/nct_redbridge_forum/

Hope the move goes well.

Thanks for your tips. The move went well. I have joined the Redbridge NCT group and will look into the classes you suggested.
