School/Private Nursery questions

Hi there

My son is two and a half and goes to a private nursery three days a week while I'm at work. He's really happy there, its handy for my husband to take him on his way to work so we're quite happy for him to stay there right up until he goes to school. The only drawback is that we've recently moved house so its unlikely that he will go school with the children he's at nursery with as its in a different area. What I was wondering was if it would be possible for him to keep going to his private nursery but also go to the school nursery on the days when I'm not at work - I think its called a spilt placement (my friend does something similar in glasgow). He'll not be eligible for a place until January but think it might be something to look into now as no doubt getting a place would be fun. The other option would be to go to a playgroup in the area but not sure that there's one where he is liable to meet kids from his school (we're in the catchment for pentland primary so if anyone knows one there would be useful)

any info gratefully recieved

Eleanor

I think this is possible but depends on the policy of the school nursery. The school nursery which my DD attends will only offer full time places but I know others which will happily do part-time. I don't know what the reasons behind this are though. Best speaking to the school office and they'll let you know their policy.
