Hi

We are thinking of moving to the area (likely to be on the border of Aldershot and Fanrnham). Would be realy interested to know your views on what its like to live in the area/good places to go with a toddler/is there much to do with children?

Thanks in advance
Michelle

Hi Michelle

I've just found out about this site through a friend at work. I don't have kids but have been trying for the last 2 years (fingers and toes crossed).

I live in Fleet which is near to these areas but is more of a commuter ville place.

Aldershot depending on where you live can be okay but I would recommend Farnham or even Hartley Whitney.

Not sure if you have ever checked out upmystreet.com as it gives you a break down of the area and local facilities too!

Worth a shot, good luck with the move too!

Hi Michelle

I live in a nice road in Aldershot, they can vary though and the town centre is rubbish! However you do get more for your money here in property terms and there is excellent access for shopping to Basingstoke and Guildford. There is some development going on in the town centre too so hopefully we will have a cinema and some nice family friendly restaurants soon. I moved here 8 years ago and have made lots of friends, and there is definitely a good community spirit. In the areas you are looking at Weybourne, Badshot Lea and the roads in Aldershot that are off Boxalls Lane would all be good places to start looking.

I have two little boys and think we are lucky to have excellect facilities for them close by. There are good children centres, swimming pools, a play gym and a good library. Aldershot park playground is currently being redeveloped and looks like it will be fab when it's finished. There are also lots of family friendly things to do which aren't too far away: Birdworld, Alice Holt and the Watercress line for example.

There are some good schools at primary level, secondary not so good at the moment so you may need to try to get into a surrey school at that level (which plenty of people do).

That's all I can think of for now, but do pm me if you want to know anything else.
