Toddler activities Royston/ Cambridge area

Hi there

Am moving from London to a little village just outside Royston and not far from Cambridge.. rather daunted by the move and worried that there will be less activities/ toddler groups for my dd who is 18months old.

Can anyone share toddler group info as not having much success searching the internet!

There are lots of toddler groups in villages in this area, but I only go to the one in my village (Foxton), so I don't know so much about them... I do know that there's a travelling soft-play that calls at Fowlmere, but we've never been yet! Don't really know much about Cambridge or Royston stuff, as we mostly only go to Cambridge to shop and not much to Royston at all, but I'm told that the library in Royston is really nice for little ones.

PS - I moved here from London, too. It is a leap, and there is less to do, but we're now actually quite busy. From attending the playgroup we met lots of people who we now have 'play dates' (hate that phrase) with, and that certainly keeps us busy.

there are quite a few privately run groups in these villages.

Melbourn children's centre is in temp accommodation while they build something new - more info and links here
melbourn

Rhymetime in Royston library is ok.
CreepyCrawlies (sp?) in Royston leisure centre is good.
Toy library in melbourn just reopened.

thanks - really helpful. Looking forward to our move out of town now that my dd will LOVE running around our new garden.. beats the postage stamp sized garden we have at the moment!

Hopefully meet you both at some of these groups and always up for play dates! (hate that word too..)

Toddler group every morning except Thurs in the Catholic church hall in royston (nothing to do with the church, just uses the hall). Various toddler groups in the local primary schools just starting up, and also in Melbourn if that is closer.

Shepreth Wildlife Park does termtime season tickets; ds2 and I go about once a week for a quick look at the tigers followed by an hour in the playbarn

There's a tumbletots-type-thing just started in Royston - can't remember details but there was a poster up in the library!

Royston Leisure centre does parent&toddler swimming twice a week (the sort where you go in too, but they do actually teach swimming, or at least water confidence)

Leisure centre also does a bouncy-castle/ball-pit thing about 4 times a week.

There's a toddlers learn spanish group, I seem to remember.

Library singing and also story time sessions.

"Music with Mum" for less crowded music sessions

Parish church do "Pray and Play" toddler church one afternoon a fortnight.

Wimpole Farm is great especially if you're a National Trust member

There you go, music, gymnastics, linguistics, playgroup, animals.

If all else fails, we like to get the park'n'ride to Cambridge and go to the dinosaur museums.
