Nurseries, nannies, childminders - urgent help/ recommendations needed

Hello - I am moving to St Margarets in July and I have a nine month old baby that I need to find childcare for urgently. I will be working all day on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. I called up a few nurseries in the Richmond and Twickenham areaa and all of them are full with gigantic waiting list. If you have any recommendations for good nurseries, nannies or childminders or interested in nanny share, I will be very grateful if you can get in touch asap.

Many many thanks.

Hi Waffy - have you tried Kids' Academy near Pools on the Park? They had space when I was looking a few months ago (DD is 11mo) but I opted for Bright Beginnings in Twick in the end. Kids' Academy was a bit scruffy but the staff seemed nice. I think it's about to be refurbished and they were due a new Ofsted inspection when I was there - the results might be out by now. It's a bit of a trek from St Margarets but quite handy for the fast trains/tube from Richmond if you need to commute into London.

There's also Brook House nursery on Cole Park Rd, which is a bit off the beaten track. I discounted it because they are closed on Fridays but could work for you? They are also closed for certain holiday periods. I get the impression they are a bit quirky but have heard good things about them. (Sorry, can't find a website for them though).

Have you contacted the Families Information Service at the council to double-check there aren't any options you might have overlooked?

I've been toying with the idea of a nanny share for Wed/Thu/Fri for when I go back to work in early June as I've been getting cold feet about the prospect of nursery but I suspect it would work out too expensive for us unfortunately.

Good luck getting it sorted.

my childminder has spaces but she's in Kew so depends whether you are prepared to drive a bit. Mind you one of the other mums kept her on when they moved to TEddington and she commuted but she woked in Roehampton so vaguely on the way.

Thanks ktay and kewcucumber. I've also found bright beginnings since posting and have booked my son in. It's a bit of a track from where I'm moving to (and until I've moved) but it feels like a good nursery to me. Ktay, would lve to meet up if you are up for it. Love to find out more about the area and meet some new friends.

Glad you managed to find somewhere - and I hope for both our sakes that it's a good option! It would be great to meet up... do you want to email me on st margarets grove at tiscali co uk (no spaces obviously) and we can make a plan.
