Play parks at Kelvingrove Park + Botanics

Hello,

I was just curious to hear if anyone knows about those two play parks. They seem to have been left unrepaired for a while now?

Are they just waiting for funding from GCC or is the plan not to repair the games?

Cheers.

Hi, there are 2 play parks in Kelvingrove, I use the one with the cafe next to it.
It always appears to be in perfect condition and dd #4.5 loves it.

The one in the Botanics has been waiting to be fixed for about 3 months now.No idea for the delay, to much money spent on T and biscuits in City Chambers I would think.

I've been thinking the same thing. The one in Kelvingrove was needing some tlc as someone had broken part of the "castle" walkway but ds was very sad that they took it all away.

I presume they intended to refurbish them (it's just the roundabout in the Botanics that's missing isn't it?). Bit worried that the Current Economic Climate has shelved things who knows how long for.

Was meaning to email the council about Kelvingrove so I'll let you know if I get round to it and get a reply.

i heard that the castle had been set on fire. i'm glad it's gone, it was crap. but i do hope something else goes in there soon.

The castle used to scare the hell out of me - I was always sure the wooden ledge in the middle was going to fall off with a child on it!

When I worked in Mulberrybush nursery we used to take the kids to the other KG park but I can't think how to get there?! I remember it being quite good.

We go to the one by the cafe in KG as it is literally two mins walk from school. The cafe takes about 45 mins to make one cup of coffee mind you so I get my coffee and the nice wee italian coffee shop opposite the RBS on North Claremont Street, just round form Royal Cresc. The playpark itself is opposite Royal Terrace for those of you who didn't know, just off Sauchiehall Street.

Hello SuziKettles,

If you have the right contact at the council let me know and I will send a mail too! not sure it will make any difference but worth a shot!

The castle was a bit scary indeed but it looks rather depressing at the moment...

The playpark by the cafe is very good although I am always amazed when I go to my in laws in Broughty Ferry, their play park is huge, with lots of great games and it looks great too. It is a shame we cannot get something like that in Glasgow where there is much more demand for it!
