Hi All

I have just moved to the area and am looking for people to meet and chat/have coffee with whilst the kids go loony

Is anyone around this area?

I have a 3 and 4 year old and one on the way. Happy to meet up at parks/cafes/house etc.

Would ideally love to get a group of us together to regularly meet up?

I went for a walk around Norton Common when I was overdue to try and get things started - didn't work but at least it got me out the house :)

Sending 'getting things started' vibes your way.

Finty5 · 30/09/2010 22:13

Hi Fortunate! Sounds good! I hope we can arrange something, how old is your little boy? I found out I'm having a boy!
Good luck auburnlizzy!

auburnlizzy78 · 06/10/2010 16:03

Just to update, ladies, I am being induced tomorrow at 40+12. Two sweeps so far failed as my cervix not favourable so MW couldn't physically do it Sad.

I think if we wait till my body's ready this baby could run into trouble. It's not really what I wanted but I think at 12 days over it's for the best. FH, will text you when I have news and will be back on here when I can. x

FortunateHamster · 06/10/2010 16:36

Ack, Lizzy, that's rubbish. If it's any consolation I ended up being induced at 12 days over too. Good luck and get as much sleep as you can tonight (I was way too nervous).

If you're at the Lister, don't expect it all to happen straightaway. The only reason I say it is I went in for nine am and thought I could be in labour by ten, but they were really busy and didn't give me my first prostin until midday! That's unlikely to happen to you - they were really really busy - but I just wanted to warn you as I was full of nervous excitement and then got a bit deflated. Most women say don't bother taking books/mags as you won't get time for them but it was worthwhile for me.

Finty5 - sorry I haven't replied, I've had a mad week. Am still up for meeting if you want to (and anyone else local!) - suspect it'll be a little while before auburnlizzy can join us :). When are you due? Are you on maternity leave yet (if working)? I go to a couple of local group things on most Mon/Tues but am usually free the rest of the time.

Finty5 · 15/10/2010 21:16

Hi Fortunate!
No worries, I am so tired, still working.I'm going on mat leave from Nov 4th, maybe we could meet after that? I am due on December 12th.
I'm looking forward to having a rest!

auburnlizzy78 · 20/10/2010 18:30

I'm back! 42 hour induction and labour and baby eventually born on the 9th October at 3.27am. Fortunate, I will tell you the whole sorry story when I see you on Monday. Finty5 - glad you'll be off soon, would like to meet up with you as well in due course.

Yummygummybear · 06/11/2010 10:05

Congratulations Lizzy Smile

I am new to MN & thought I would pop in to this thread to say hello.
I have a 5 year old DS & 2nd child is due in just over 4 weeks time.
I live in Letchworth

auburnlizzy78 · 10/11/2010 15:53

Yummygummybear - welcome!

If you're interested in meeting up pre-baby that would be great. Which part of Letchworth do you live in? I'm towards the north, near the Grange

oXPorkChopXo · 11/11/2010 10:55

Hello everyone I am new here too!
Congrats lizzy! (:
I live in letchworth and have a son who's six months on sunday :D

ab1975 · 11/11/2010 13:28

Hi ladies,
I moved to Hitchin 2 weeks ago and am looking to meet some Mums. Let me know if anyone is still meeting up but sounds like you could be busy but with your bubbas, awwww!
There seems to be a few toddler groups in Hitchin so maybe see you there.
Good luck everyone,
Alex x

FortunateHamster · 11/11/2010 13:53

Shall we do another meetup in Letchworth next week or the week after maybe? (sorry ab1975 I can't really get to Hitchin but maybe some other MNetters can)

We could probably do with suggestions of where to go as Costa is normally packed. If you say Morrisons, Porkchop, then I'm pretty sure I know who you are ;)

auburnlizzy78 · 12/11/2010 16:20

Am up for that.

Little'un now has a cold so if he still has it I will stay well away tho.

oXPorkChopXo · 13/11/2010 16:27

Haha who are you fortunate? I was going to say morrisons as well :p x

kerdazzle · 29/11/2010 12:13

Hi people :0)

I'm new to the site and have found it very interesting as I'm hoping to move to hitchin v soon but feeling a bit anxious bout the schools I've checked ofsted reports but as any parent knows it's the parents playground chat that rates the schools I was wondering if anyone can tell me how the schools deal with special needs and maybe recommend some please, which would be helpful, one son in senior and son in primary both been statemented if helps and a girl in senior

Also good clubs and activities in area :0)

Look forward to replies

Hello Herts types!

I'm currently living in sunny Catford (SE London) but we're in the process of getting our house packed up for a move to Hitchin, hoping to be in some time mid/late August.

We have two boys - 2 year old and a 9 month old - and like some of the other post-ers on this site, are taking a leap into the unknown, leaving most of our friends behind!

If anyone fancies meeting up for playdates any time from (hopefully!) late August onwards, please do get in touch. Hopefully meet some of you soon anyway.

David's Bookshop in Letchworth is renowned as one of the best remaining independent bookshops in the country. It has an extensive second hand department occupying the upper floor. It is also a music store, selling 78s,33s and 45s, ,CDs, DVDs, and music scores. It has pavement stalls in which you can find all sorts of interesting books going for a song.

AlisyasMummy · 11/10/2011 17:34

Hi there,

Am new in Hitchin, and would be up for coming to a meet-up! Have an active five month old, who is keen to see (and possible chew on) the wider world :-D Otherwise, maybe will see you all at the various baby-groups instead. Xxx
