Advice for Antenatal Classes

I am expecting a baby in July, and planning to have birth at Whittington Hospital. I tried to book Antenatal Class there apparently, it is fully booked from May. So I contacted NCT, and it will costs about 250-300 pounds, I wonder if I should go for NCT's Antenatal Classes, or Private Classes, or if you know any other option. Please, advise me what to do. If NCT's classes are worth, I don't mind paying for them, but I don't want to waste the money either if there are better options. Any advice would be really appreciated.

Ask your midwife at your next antenatal appointment again about NHS class at the Whittington - first time round there I was put on a waiting list for a class which was offered a week beforehand, after originally being told everything was full.

I think NCT classes are worth it, there's also some other private classes but similar prices or more.

You could also contact your local NCT branch and try to get to some local meet ups/events at weekends or once you're on maternity leave. They are open to members and non-members - I'm involved in the NCT as a volunteer in Tottenham - and you can find out more about it and join if it's worth it. Haringey NCT has different groups depending on area - Crouch End, Muswell Hill, Stroud Green, Bounds Green, Wood Green, the Ladder etc. Tottenham NCT is a new branch for parents in N15/N17.

First time round I couldn't get on to a local NCT antenatal course but I did a postnatal one with my small baby and I found that useful, and a bit cheaper than the antenatal one.

Hi, I did nornal NHS class as found NCT pricey and content of class very similar. Up to you, I did not learn a single thing inmy classes. MW gave leaflets at the end and we did group work, useless.

buy a book or ask questions on mumsnet you'll learn more!
