Hi, I'm moving to the colliers wood area just off the high street in 3 weeks due to my husbands job offer... We're moving from a small seaside town in Dorset where everyone knows everyone! So I am abit nervous moving to the city not knowing anyone! We have two girls aged 3 and 10 months..I'm looking to meet other mums on area, and would like to know of any nice parent / toddler groups etc

Hi Nixx82! No seaside or yummy Dorset apple cake here but London life does have its compensations and there's a lot of green space in this part of London.

I'm not local to Colliers Wood but I do know there are playgroups there. Hopefully someone more local will have some suggestions but I found these:

Hi NiXX82

My name is Jo and I run a local network called 'Naughty Mummy' - we throw coffee afternoons for mums and their kids and also nights out, just for mums!

Welcome to the area, we are a friendly bunch (I'm originally from Ireland so I totally get the 'everyone knows everyone else' thing.)

Visit our website naughtymummy.co.uk for more info on things we have coming up or email me at [email protected] and I'll drag you out for a coffee. We have made some lovely friends and really have a good laugh, so hope to meet you soon!

Jo
ps I'm based in Wimbledon but CW is just around the corner!

Hi Nixx,
I'm in Colliers Wood. Would be more than happy to show you around all the playgroups.
CW is a lovely place, very friendly and 'villagy' people wise. I can't go 10 foot without bumping into someone I know very unlike Where I used to live (fulham)

I'll be going to CW community centre to Funtime on Thursday morning if you'd like to come along?
It's quite big and noisy but if your girls like that sort of thing then it's perfect.
HOM mentioned Collywobbles which is very nice. I go every Friday morning, although it's closed now for the Easter hols

I have just come back from Holy Trinity playgroup which, although closed next week, it is open from the following week. That's in Wimbledon but only takes 15 mins to walk there from CW. That's Tuesdays 9:30-11:30 but you need to get there early as it gets full up. Lovely group though and well worth the walk. I normally drop my eldest (4) at school (Singlegate) then walk from there.

Let me know if you would like to hook up. I have a one yr old as well. Plus I'm a childminder so have two others with me.
I'll introduce you to lots of lovely people

Nixx82 · 30/03/2010 21:43

Hello Everyone! what a lovely response! and very useful so thankyou HOM

Jo your naughty mummys group sounds fab, best of both worlds meeting up with kids and without, mummys don't always get a break from the everyday life of kids so I will def join up

Frazzlerock I wouldve come to meet u for the group this thurs but we don't actually move until the 17th April! But will def come with u when the new term starts if ok, I'm new to this site so not sure yet how to private message u?

Again thankyou for the friendly responses, I'm not so nervous now and look forward to meeting some other mums in the area!

Nicky x
