The playgrounds I mean...any inside info? Hope they're not closed during the Easter hols...

hi furrycat, apparently it's not opening til the 25th April. there's an opening 'party' then anyway with music and free cakes for kids . Apparently they're waiting for some parts which have been delayed before they can carry on with the work

Starina · 24/03/2010 14:38

Hi Furrycat, the Preston Park playground will be celebrating the completion of improvment work with an opening event on Saturday 24th April from 2pm - 4pm.

I'll make it a listing. Probably see you there!

furrycat · 24/03/2010 14:58

Aaagh, how are we going to manage for another month without either of our local parks?

Oh no really, the 25th? That's ages! We keep going to Blakers anyway, DS is happy walking around the outside of the fence looking at the progress!

migola · 24/03/2010 16:07

don't know where you are but the hollingbury one is still open, on ditchling road, but it's SO windy there

furrycat · 24/03/2010 19:38

Oh it's too far to walk uphill with the DS's (we're 3 mins from Blaker's).

Will have to carry on peering sadly at the fence saying brightly "Gosh, I'm sure it will be finished soon"

It's supposed to be April sometime. Annoying that they're not available for the Easter hols. Same with Dyke Road park.

I reckon they'll be greatly improved though and improvement is long overdue to bring them in line with the likes of Hove Park.

mamasmissionimpossible · 24/03/2010 19:43

Oh I can't believe it is taking so long to finish these playgrounds. I have 2 active dc's who need exercising, sigh...

Beasknees · 24/03/2010 20:54

preston park looks like it's coming along nicely though i do think they could've made it MUCH larger, but they seem to have done nothing in Blakers for ages other than make it hard to actually see your dc's there.

migola · 24/03/2010 22:50

furrycat you must be really near me. know what you mean about the hill
they've put up a sand thing in blakers today/yest which has a bucket pully system on it. i'm sure the kids will love it but i'm not sure it looks right

furrycat · 24/03/2010 22:58

Ooh will go and have a nose.

Migola, we probably know each other in RL....

maybe it's me but it's just plonked in the middle and I think it looks quite ugly..
doubt it furrycat, I hardly know anyone

jenniferturkington · 25/03/2010 09:00

furrycat/migola, how old are your dcs?

furrycat · 25/03/2010 09:15

Jenniferturkington, I have two ds - 5 and 3. And you?

OP posts:
migola · 25/03/2010 12:01

I have 2 DDs, one is 3, one is 8 months

jenniferturkington · 25/03/2010 15:02

I have a nearly 3 year old ds and a 13 month old dd. We should meet up given that we all have a 3 ish year old that needs walking!

furrycat · 25/03/2010 18:06

Good idea, poor ds2 doesn't know anyone his age round here as he still goes to nursery where we used to live.

OP posts:
migola · 25/03/2010 19:52

am up for that too, would be nice for dd to meet some little friends

furrycat · 29/03/2010 10:13

Just checked the council website and it says Blakers should be open second week of April (not sure if that means week beginning April 5 or April 12) and Preston Park week ending April 16.

Perhaps we should meet-up in the New Blakers when it's open?

hallelujah
they've put the lawn down now and it looks a bit like telly tubby land. Can't wait for it to open again

furrycat · 30/03/2010 09:33

Will Dipsy, Po etc be at the opening ceremony do you think?
