Looking for playgroup info / friends in Clock House and Beckenham area

Hi!

I am quite new to this area as only moved to Beckenham recently.
Please can you advice me on good activities and things to do in Kent House, Clock House and Beckenham area?
Working part time, I still get a lot of time to spend with my 14 months old son. So really want it to be a quality time: meeting with other parents and taking my angel to good baby groups, etc.
I will be grateful for your comments and advice

There is a children's centre at Churchfields Primary School which is relatively new but I have heard quite good. There is also the spa for soft play etc.

Are you nearer Penge than Beckenham?

Hi, have just been given some info on things to do in Beckenham so thought I'd pass it on to you. I haven't been to many of the activities yet so don't know what they're like, but it might be worth a phone call.

James Dixon Family centre, Anerley

Royston Family centre, Kent House Road
87787416

Churchfields Family centre
8658 9546

Elmers End Family centre
8658 6695
(Have been here once so far and they offer lots of activities and groups to join. Nice venue too.)

Hi SecretSlattern!

Thanks for the information
I live just between Clock House and Kent House stations so in the middle of Penge and Beckenham I would say.

Heard about Churchfields but never had a chance to go there. Will give it a try. Didn't know that there is a soft play area in Spa Centre.

Did you go to any of them? Are you local?

Hello.

Me and my son go to churchfields and we really like it. The staff are are really nice and it's never too busy. Some of the activities you need to book in advance though.
As far as the spa goes all I can say is avoid the weekends if you want to stay sane!

Hi there

I think Churchfield's childrens centre is probably closest to you - they have some good sessions there as already mentioned. Beckenham spa softplay is fine, and they also have preschool classes there, like trampolining, gymnastics etc. We also go to gamabados a fair bit as it is bigger, although it is a bit further away, expensive and is also a nighmare on weekends or school holidays, so avoid at those times!

Also, check out the one o'clock club in crystal palace park - open pretty much all day during the week, and has art/craft activities, a fair few toys and some good outdoor space. When the weather's good, we tend to go to either crystal palace park with the dinosaurs and little farm plus playground etc, or croydon road recreation ground, both have cafes for a coffee too!

Hope that helps. Feel free to get in touch if you like - I moved here over a year ago and I'm still finding my feet around here!

Hi,
We live in Beckenham, and are kinda new to the area so don't know so many people with children, and my daughter is starting at Churchfields in September so i'm after a nannie/childminder for a few days over this summer holiday and then a childminder for after school come September, and of course school holidays.
Is anyone else's children going to Churchfields that we could share the cost of a childminder?
Does anyone know of a good childminder that childminds for children already at Churchfields that they could recommend/suggest?

PickleMyster · 14/05/2011 18:17

Hi Matt,

Just read your post about needing childcare over summer. I live very close to Clock House station, I am an OFSTED registered nanny (currently not working). I am looking for work over the summer and then school pick up in September. I have a two yr old son who is very easy-going and relaxed and would need to come to work with me - if you think this an arrangement that could work then get in touch

Many thanks
